Malvaceae

Google Lens couldn’t say for sure, but it looks like the flower could be Prairie Malva, or something related to the Malvaceae family. It was spotted on a site that’s now closed off by Natuurpunt.

In Flanders, we’ve got two groups looking after nature: the Agency for Nature and Forests, and Natuurpunt. They both aim for the same thing, but they seem to have different plans. I found this out from chatting with two folks who are somewhere between the two groups.

The big issue is that the folks at desks tend to make decisions without knowing what’s really going on in the field. Meanwhile, people like forest rangers, who do know the land, don’t always get heard.
